The last hoorah before getting back into the daily grind of work and school was a weekend trip to Orlando. Dan and Leah, and I packed up the suburban Friday afternoon and headed to meet the Ohio Lynch family and some of their friends. We had a great time getting to know the different couples staying in the rental house with us and eating a yummy pasta dinner. At about 6pm it was decided that I would take Ethan’s entry number and walk the half marathon through Disney World with Aunt Sue. At first I was hesitant because it was kind of a reminder that I failed to meet my goal of racing it, but figured it was better to say I walked It than I didn’t do it at all. So 2:30am the following morning I through on my running shoes, scarfed down a bagel, and was on my way with the other racers. It was such a great experience and really made me want to do more fun races. I wish I could be fast and enjoy running, but I’m afraid I just don’t have that niche. Perhaps just training to walk and for fun but challenging races is something I should try.
Who knows what the rest of this year will bring but so far it’s gotten off to a decent start.
